Under Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, the following are prohibited:

🔥 Open Fires

  • Campfires, charcoal grills, and other solid-fuel fires are not allowed, except:
    • In permanent fire rings at developed recreation sites
    • Using liquid or gas-fueled stoves (with proper clearance)
    • In fully enclosed stoves with spark arrestors

🚬 Smoking

  • Only allowed:

    • A fire extinguisher immediately available

💥 Explosives

  • Use of explosives is prohibited

Why These Restrictions Matter

Dry conditions, low humidity, and increased fuel loads create a high risk for wildfire ignition and rapid spread. Even small sparks can lead to large, fast-moving fires.

These restrictions help:

  • Prevent human-caused wildfires
  • Protect firefighters and emergency responders
  • Preserve property, infrastructure, and natural resources

Penalties

Violations may result in:

  • Fines up to $5,000 (individuals) or $10,000 (organizations)
  • Up to 6 months imprisonment
  • Or both
