Training encompasses structural fire attack, fire apparatus operations, and safety, Incident Command System, personnel accountability, fire ground operations and safety, and human resource management. The training is comprehensive and in keeping with the rigorous standards expected by the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control and more importantly, the citizens we serve.

All of our members are trained to the level of Colorado State Certified Emergency Medical Responders. We are the first response level and EMT-Basic Level care and working partners with higher trained professionals from South Park Ambulance who provide exceptional Advanced Life Support paramedical services. We all function under the directorship of St. Anthony's Hospital services.

With the major U.S. Hwy 285 traversing our district, it is important that our members be trained in the latest techniques of vehicle extrication. Extrication is the procedure used to "remove the vehicle from the victim." The process allows for quick removal and trauma life support for any and all victims of a critical motor vehicle accident.

We have a large area of rural/wild-land interface within our 525 square mile district. We are the initial response agency to private, state, and federal lands within that district. Our responsibility to provide first response fire suppression to those areas requires extensive and on-going training regarding wild-land fire suppression with a huge emphasis on firefighter safety and response.
