POSITION: Firefighter 

SUPERVISOR: Chief Smith

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate willingness to learn and work as a team member, knowledge of:

·      Fire prevention, combating and extinguishing fires with the goal of protecting lives, the environment and property

·       Operating tools and equipment used for firefighting safely and effectively

• Providing appropriate medical care within their scope of knowledge in emergency situations
• Analyzing hazardous situations and thinking of quick solutions and actions
• Teaching and participating in training classes and drills
• Performing general maintenance on firefighting equipment
• Maintaining a clean environment in the department facilities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

·       Must have a valid Colorado Driver’s license.

·       Must clear background check.  

·       Preferred certifications not required: Firefighter I, Hazardous Material Operations, Wildland Firefighter type 2, Emergency Medical Responder or higher.  

WORKING ENVIORMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/DEMANDS:

·       Scheduled to work 48 hours in station with 96 hours off

·       Shall obtain certifications as determined by the Fire Chief

·       May be required to work overtime as directed by the Fire Chief

·       Must be in good health, with no physical or medical limitations, able to lift 75 pounds and perform a 3 mile walk with 45-pound pack within 48 minutes
