Jefferson Como Fire welcomes new Fire Chief!
Congratulations to Trent Smith!
The Board of Directors appointed Trent Smith as Fire Chief at the Special Meeting on April 16, 2020.
Trent is a resident of the Jefferson-Como Fire Protection District and has been a resident of Park County, Colorado for 21 years. He is very dedicated to all of the people he works with in Emergency Services. He has served as a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician for 26 years and holds various certifications: Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operations, Fire Instructor I, and Fire Inspector II. His vast experience includes volunteer and career firefighter recruitment, fire prevention and education, fire investigation, fire inspections, wildland firefighting, and Incident Command.
Trent Smith has proven his strong desire to serve the citizens of this community and will start as Fire Chief on May 1, 2020.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate willingness to learn and work as a team member, knowledge of:
• Fire prevention, combating and extinguishing fires with the goal of protecting lives, the environment and property
• Operating tools and equipment used for firefighting safely and effectively
• Providing appropriate medical care within their scope of knowledge in emergency situations
• Analyzing hazardous situations and thinking of quick solutions and actions
• Teaching and participating in training classes and drills
• Performing general maintenance on firefighting equipment and apparatus
• Maintaining a clean environment in the department facilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:
• Must clear background check
• Valid Colorado Driver License
• Firefighter 1, Haz-Mat Ops, S130/190, and EMT B preferred.
• Able to pass drug screening, doctors physical and department physical test.
