Fire & Life Safety Information

While we are all concerned about wild-fire in our community, there are things we can do as property owners and responsible stewards of the land to protect our homes, trees and lands that are an integral part of the beautiful South Park region.

  1. Clear your lot of deadfall and slash.
  2. De-limb your precious trees to a level of 6-10 feet above the ground and adjacent ladder fuels.
  3. Trim out unnecessary trees, shrubs and tall grasses to a thirty (30’) foot perimeter around the home, garage, propane tanks, and storage sheds.
  4. Store all firewood and similar combustibles away from your porches, roof overhangs, and decks.
  5. Repair, replace, or enclose open exposed roof assemblies with soffits and metal vents.
  6. Keep all combustible or flammable liquids in approved containers and protected from sun and heat sources.
  7. Do not leave charcoal fired grills unattended. (When allowed to be used)
  8. Make your driveways accessible to emergency fire crews and medical personnel.
  9. Clean gutters and roofs of pine needles and debris.
  10. Extinguish all smoking materials in your home or vehicle.
