June 21, 2006 There is a County wide Stage II Burn Ban in effect for Park County effective immediately. No fires of any kind will be allowed anywhere in Park County.

Chainsaws can be used for commercial purposes
only and party must meet the requirements of the Fire District they are in.
Gas engines, ie lawnmowers, weedeaters and
generators are allowed.
Outside water heaters are allowed as long as
the only thing burned in them is wood.

August 3, 2005 JCFPD was saddened to learn of the passing of Pat New. Pat served for many years on the JCFPD Board of Directors. He will be long remembered for his dedicated service. JULY 5, 2005 The 4th. of July in Como was a smashing success. Everyone said the fireworks display was the best ever! Check it out for yourself on our Fourth of July page. FOURTH OF JULY ANNOUNCEMENT: Effective June 28, 2005, there is a County wide Fire Ban in effect for Park County. This Fire Ban will remain in effect until further notice. This means: NO CAMP FIRES, NO OPEN FIRES, NO CONTROLLED BURNS. THIS APPLIES TO EVERYONE. ANNOUNCEMENT JUNE 26, 2005 TO BRING YOU UP TO DATE ON THE WORK ON THE TWO NEW STATIONS. STATION 4 The floor has been successfully poured at Station 4. A great deal of the electrical work is also complete. Doors will be adjusted to the new floor once the work is completed. It is probably obvious that the poles are there to keep someone from driving one of the large trucks into the side of the building. STATION 7 The doors have been installed at Station 7. Notice the "oops" poles on either side of these doors as well. There is also a view of the storeroom that is behind the bays. Photo by Liz McKay©2005 FEBRUARY 26, 2005 At training on February 25, 2005 a new slate of volunteer officers for JCFPD was announced by Chief Bargas. The new officers are as follows: Doc McKay was promoted from Captain to Deputy Chief Jim Linn was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain Mark Kell was promoted to Lieutenant. STEVE BARGAS SELECTED AS NEW FIRE CHIEF
At the regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors of JCFPD on February 16, 2005, Interim Chief Steve Bargas was chosen to serve as the new Chief of the Jefferson-Como Fire Protection District. Steve has been employed by JCFPD for seven years and brings that experience and a wealth of knowledge of the district to his new position. The next time you see Steve tell him how glad you are that he has been selected to be the Chief. Webmaster's note: *Judi retired from the fire service effective January 1, 2005 after ten years of devoted service to Jefferson-Como Fire District. Steve Bargas has served as Deputy Chief of Jefferson-Como Fire District for some time and has been appointed Interim Chief until the Board Selects a new Fire Chief. The new Fire Chief is expected to be appointed during the February Board of Directors meeting in an executive session of the Board. |
